The Department of Tourism recently conducted “Tourism in Review,” a consultative and recognition event aimed at enhancing the integrity and effectiveness of the country’s tourism awards program. The gathering served as a platform to consolidate insights, comments, and professional feedback on the existing Tourism Awards criteria, ensuring that future recognitions remain relevant, transparent, and reflective of industry standards.

The event brought together key stakeholders, sector experts, and National Judges who play a vital role in evaluating excellence within the Philippine tourism landscape. Through structured discussions and open dialogue, participants were encouraged to share observations and recommendations on the awarding framework, reinforcing a collaborative approach to continuous improvement in tourism governance and recognition.

Beyond its consultative objectives, Tourism in Review also highlighted the Department’s commitment to acknowledging the individuals who uphold the credibility of the awards process. A Certificate of Appreciation was formally conferred upon the National Judges in recognition of their professionalism, integrity, and dedicated service to the tourism sector.

Among the recipients was Architect Tasarra, whose contribution as a National Judge was recognized during the ceremony. His involvement underscores the importance of multidisciplinary expertise—particularly from the design and built-environment professions—in shaping tourism standards, evaluation, and development.

The event was held at Sevea Bay, providing an appropriate venue for reflection, dialogue, and recognition. By combining review, consultation, and appreciation, the Department of Tourism reaffirmed its commitment to fostering excellence, accountability, and collaboration across the tourism industry.

Tourism in Review stands as a testament to the Department’s proactive approach in refining its programs while honoring the professionals who help elevate Philippine tourism on both national and international stages.
